Experts have warned that noise pollution from some of Brighton's roads is seriously affecting people's lives, it has been reported.
The government's new noise-mapping website has highlighted many parts of the city where noise pollution reaches or exceeds national guidelines, according to the Argus Lite.
Green party councillor Keith Taylor told the publication that noise pollution from the city's roads is a huge problem and needs to be taken more seriously.
"There is always going to be noise associated with living in a city centre but these maps show it is reaching excessive levels," he added.
Paul Elgood, a Liberal Democrat councillor for the Brunswick ward, told the newspaper noise is excessive on his patch and suggested that a 20mph speed limit in the city centre would vastly reduce the area's noise pollution.
Meanwhile it was reported last month by the Huddersfield Daily Examiner that Wakefield Road is the town's worst cause of noise pollution.
