Plans to build a new school in Keighley look set to be approved despite opposition from local residents over fears of light and noise pollution, it has been reported.

The Keighley area planning panel will be advised to support the scheme - that has already received outline planning approval - at a town hall meeting on Thursday, according to the Yorkshire Post.

Bradford council needs further considerations to be met by councillors due to the two-school campus being built on the urban green space site of Greenhead High School.

The newspaper's report said: "Concerns have been raised about a rise in traffic and congestion, adequate parking provision and the impact of the proposed development on people living next to the schools."

Locals are also concerned about pedestrian safety as well as the potential noise pollution caused by the site, it added.

It was reported earlier in the week by the Ripon Gazette that residents are opposing plans to build a waste processing plant in Boroughbridge due to concerns of noise pollution.
