Green homes firms in Peterborough are being encouraged to enter the city's Business Awards 2008, it has been reported.
Regeneration company Opportunity Peterborough has sponsored the Environmental Achievement category of the Evening Telegraph's accolades and is calling on environmentally-conscious organisations - such as those that have built eco homes in the city - to enter.
The company said it is "delighted" to be supporting enterprises demonstrating their commitment to the city achieving its environmental capital status, according to the Peterborough Evening Telegraph.
Phil Harker, the agency's director of technical operations and sustainability, told the local newspaper the group was working with partners on a number of eco homes projects that will significantly build upon the city's environmental status.
"Sustainability is the driving force behind Opportunity Peterborough's work and in sponsoring this award we are looking to exemplify local businesses that place it at the heart of their operations," he added.
Last week it was reported by the Oxford Mail that housing minister Caroline Flint was urging the city's residents to support a new eco homes development proposed south of Bicester.
