A Northamptonshire town's local authority has approved plans for a children's playground despite fears over the noise pollution it could create, it has been reported.
Local residents had opposed proposals for the Corby site, saying it would become a magnet for anti-social behaviour and cause unwelcome levels of noise pollution, according to the Kettering Evening Telegraph.
The council had already rejected similar plans earlier in the year but gave developer Cofton the go-ahead to provide the play area in Butland Road for youngsters moving into homes on the Oakley Vale estate.
Gary Manton, who lives on Butland Road, told the publication: " Objections to this proposal had been put forward, with a strong emphasis on child safety, all ignored by the committee.
"The expected noise pollution and vandalism on this site was also ignored."
David Simms, ward councillor for Oakley Vale, added he thought it was a "disgrace" that the plans were given the nod saying it was "irresponsible" to encourage young children to play next to a busy main road.
Meanwhile, it was reported by the Yorkshire Post last week that Bradford council's plans to build a new school on the site of Greenhead High are being opposed due to fears of the noise pollution it could create.
