Eco-friendly Prince Charles got the go-ahead this week for plans to create a Devon town dedicated to green homes.
Sherford, located on the south-west coast, is expected to house around 12,000 people and feature designated car-free areas.
With the project earmarked for completion by 2020, renewable energy sources will be the order of the day for the eco homes - from solar panels to wind turbines.
Hank Dittmar, chief executive of the Prince's Foundation for the Built Environment, explained the royal's desire to design green homes which are "timeless" and still efficient 100 years from now.
"Building something of our time can often mean we look back in ten years and think, 'Oh my God, what were we thinking of?'," he remarked.
"We have tried to study the past and its techniques and improve it."
In related news, two Cumbrian families are now taking part in a year-long green homes scheme that will see them make energy-saving home improvements to reduce their carbon footprints.
