A regional police force has urged residents in the locality to keep windows locked after a spate of burglaries occurred earlier in the week.
On Monday, three burglaries took place in South Ribble - one of which happened while a woman was upstairs.
Two of the incidents involved attempted break-ins through ground floor windows.
Detective inspector Steve Ashurst told Leyland Today that the public must "not […] be complacent with household security" and urged people to close windows at night, locking them if they are able to do so.
His comments come as police in Avon and Somerset visit schools in the region to promote home security to young people, the Yeovil Express reports.
"Make sure you have good quality locks, and secure doors and windows of rooms you are not in," the newspaper advised readers.
Home improvements, such as installing double glazing or lockable uPVC frames and doors, can make a property more secure against burglary.
