A group of Suffolk schoolchildren have become some of the first people to see a new development of eco homes in the area.
Featuring energy-saving natural insulation and heat sources, the £4.5 million green homes project is a joint initiative between Suffolk Preservation Society and Orwell Housing Association.
Lindsey Bilston, a teacher at Elmswell primary school, told Bury Free Press that the group got to see builders digging a hole for a woodchip boiler that will be used to heat the 26 homes.
"The children really enjoyed it - it's improved their understanding of what can be done in this country to make homes more environmentally friendly," she said.
Among the planet-friendly materials used for insulation in the properties are hemp and lime spray, which are intended to reduce the need for gas-guzzling heating devices.
