A Richmond school has beaten off competition from around the country to win a substantial green grant.
Hampton Hill Junior School was given £5,000 by the National College for School Leadership (NCSL) in recognition of its sustainable efforts, reports the Richmond and Twickenham Times.
As part of the competition to win the money, schools around the country had to submit details of current energy-saving efforts such as insulation and double glazing, as well as plans to share their experiences with other schools.
Hampton Hill staff told their local paper that their green grant will be used to form a network with other schools in the area in order to share good practice in sustainable thinking.
Toby Greany, NCSL's operational director of research and policy, stated that this commitment is "great news".
"We remain dedicated to supporting heads to be sustainable and hope these grants go some way towards helping them achieve this," he continued.
British Gas recently launched its Green Streets initiative, another scheme aimed at providing eco-conscious building owners with money towards green technology such as solar panels, cavity wall insulation and double glazing.
