Model green homes are set to showcase the latest in eco homes technology in Scotland, it has been reported.
Four new eco homes in Ravenscraig could feature solar panels, wind turbines, rainwater harvesting and recycled waste timber, according to the Glasgow Evening Times.
The Building Research Establishment (BRE) Scotland charity is putting on the showcase in conjunction with local redeveloper Ravenscraig on a former steelworks site.
Rufus Logan, director of BRE Scotland, told the publication: "This will highlight the innovative work going on in the Scottish construction industry and will challenge firms to develop new solutions to issues the sector will face in the not-too-distant future."
The newspaper added the Ravenscraig development will eventually be home to 10,000 people and create thousands of jobs.
It was reported by 24dash.com this week that Birmingham's social housing stock is set to receive a £16 million green home makeover.
Work is underway on 116 properties to form the city's first sustainable housing development.
