A school has received a grant from Birmingham International Airport for replacement windows to insulate against noise pollution.
The £100,000 grant will allow Ridpool Primary School to replace existing windows with double glazing, which will be good news for pupils and teachers alike.
"It's reassuring to see that the airport recognises its responsibilities to the local community," said councillor Ian Ward of Shard End Wars council.
"This level of funding is significant and will go a long way to reducing the impact of aircraft noise."
The news comes as Stansted Airport's operator BAA held a one-off conference on noise monitoring, to which representatives airlines, airports and members of the community were invited.
BAA offers noise-proofing grants to residents living near its airports in Gatwick, Heathrow and Stansted who are unduly affected by aircraft noise.
Whether living by airports or busy roads, double glazed windows and doors can significantly reduce the level of disturbance from noise suffered by a household.
