Police in Bromsgrove have advised people to secure their homes as the season of spring approaches.
According to Bromsgrove Police, the onset of spring is often accompanied with an increase in the number of sneak-in burglaries and thefts from garden sheds.
PC Stan Baker told the Bromsgrove Advertiser that residents should take precautions such as making sure locks and fittings are secure, installing security lighting and putting away any tools or ladders.
"Householders also need to take a good hard look at the garden and see whether any damage has been caused to fences, gates or hedges during the winter," he said.
A recent survey by Abbey found that around a third of Brits (nearly 19 million) people have moved house in the last five years in search of a better life, with nearly 5.3 million saying they wanted to get away from crime.
