Double glazing and new kitchen units are among the improvements being carried out to Surrey's community buildings as a result of a cash injection from officials.
Councils in the area have got together to provide the funding, which is aimed at making the properties more "thermally efficient".
One establishment to benefit from the Community Building Grants scheme will be Weybridge Methodist Church, which is to get a new boiler and double glazing.
Meanwhile, users of Lord Riddell Memorial Hall in Tadworth are looking forward to kitchen and toilet upgrades, as well as new double glazing.
"Village halls and similar buildings are often the focal point of the community and the homes of a vast range of different local organisations," explained Chris White, Surrey county council's lead policy and public affairs manager.
Eco-conscious property analysts at Scotland's Daily Record recently emphasised that installing double glazing not only saves money on rising energy bills, but also cuts down noise pollution in a home or public building.
The team pointed out that the right windows and doors can also add style and extra security to an establishment, potentially pushing up its value on the property market.
Double glazing is proven to save heat and energy lost through poorly-insulated windows and doors. With Energy Efficiency windows and doors as standard, homeowners can now save even more on their heating bills and reduce their carbon footprint.
