A Liverpool couple have had new double glazing and doors installed after they were deemed eligible for a home improvements loan.

Doris and Gerard Clark moved into their terraced abode 20 years ago and were keen to modernise it, but they could not afford to, according to 24dash.

After they applied for a loan through the city's Maritime Housing Association, surveyors concluded that a new kitchen, stairs, doors and double glazing were just a few of the updates needed in the house.

Doris told the news provider that the cost of all the work came to £25,000.

"We couldn't afford that, but thanks to Regenda Loans sorting out all the paper work, we were able to go ahead," she explained, pointing out that the house is "lovely and warm" as a result of the home improvements.

Residents of a dilapidated Oxford housing estate also recently expressed their delight at the prospect of moving into renovated homes with double glazing and "a bit more warmth".

The Oxford Mail reported that the Rose Hill area's post-war 'Orlit' houses were designed to last just a decade, with inhabitants increasingly feeling the effects of inadequate windows and insulation.

Double glazing windows and doors can increase the value of your property, as well as saving you money on your heating bills. Take a look at some of the Energy Efficiency-certified windows and doors on the Safestyle website.
