A group of Dunfermline residents are opposing a new Tesco store over fears of noise pollution, it has been reported.

Fife council has just given the supermarket the go-ahead for their second supermarket in the city in as many months, according to the Dunfermline Press.

Tesco are now going ahead with their plan to build a new superstore on Aberdour Road in a move which the local authority believes could improve the area.

Helen Webber, of Evershed Drive, told the publication she wrote to the council to express her anger at the lack of interest it had shown in local residents' objections.

"The only conclusion I can see is that they (Tesco) want to monopolise the whole area and Fife Council are giving them the opportunity to do so." she added.

Local residents objected to their plans over fears of noise pollution and increased congestion in the area as well out of concern for smaller businesses.

Meanwhile, last week it was reported by the Newmarket Journal that residents were opposing plans by Stansted and Luton airports to stack aircraft over the village of Ousden.
