Home improvements guru Tommy Walsh showed up at a green homes development in Wembley last week to film part of his new TV series.

The small-screen builder wanted to view Crown Green Mews' energy-efficient solar panels, which will provide heating and hot water for the project's 13 four-bedroom townhouses.

He explained to reporters that new programme Tommy Walsh's Green Homes will showcase environmentally-friendly innovations in house building.

Lyn Asquith, the key accounts director at solar-panel manufacturer Gledhill Water Storage, pointed out that the UK receives 65 per cent of the sunlight of Spain, making solar panels an "excellent" means of generating energy and reducing gas and electricity bills.

"Not only do the solar panels provide an excellent source of renewable energy, but they are also fully recyclable, including the glass outer cover," she remarked.

Planet-conscious homeowners are regularly reminded by home improvements experts that installing insulation or double glazing windows is another effective way to halve fuel bills, with around one third of heat wasted through poor insulation.

With Energy Efficiency windows supplied as standard, homeowners can now save even more on their heating bills and reduce their carbon footprint. Visit the Safestyle website to see a range of top quality double glazed windows to suit your home.
