Officials in Sussex have given the go-ahead for replacement upvc windows to be installed at a property in Meads.
There had been concerns that the replacement windows would have a negative impact on the appearance of the conservation area, but the objections have been dismissed by planners.
According to Eastbourne Today, the planning inspector who visited the Clarendon Court property noted in his appeal decision: "Whilst the windows are visible from the highway, I noted the vast majority of the many windows in the building have already been replaced with upvc frames over a period of time.
"In my view this work has been undertaken sympathetically and the proposed replacement frames, which are the subject of this appeal, would be undertaken in a very similar way."
The inspector went on to suggest that replacement windows for the building's existing timber frames, overall, would have "extremely minor impact" on the structure's visual impression.
Eco-conscious Wigan resident Adrian Whitling has previously advocated the use of upvc windows and called for more of the UK's terraced houses to have them installed.
