Over 1,000 green homes could be set for creation in the Cippenham and Slough area following one developer's proposal for a renewable energy resource there.
Barratt Southern Counties is seeking permission from Slough borough council to install a three-megawatt wind turbine which would provide electricity for 1,500 homes nearby.
Representatives for the firm pointed out that they champion the construction of sustainable, energy-efficient eco homes, with an 'eco-village' dedicated to green homes developed by them in Lancashire in 2006.
Furthermore, the company unveiled its zero-carbon Barratt Green House this year, which meets the highest level of the government's code for sustainable homes.
"The provision of a wind turbine at Cippenham demonstrates the commitment Barratt is making to energy efficiency and sustainable development," a spokesperson told Easier Property.
"It will be sited on land between Richards Way and the M4 and will not significantly affect any protected landscapes such as Windsor town, Windsor Great Park or the River Thames," the representative added.
Last week, fellow developer George Wimpey unveiled another new eco homes project in Leicester, featuring apartments with double glazing windows for maximum energy efficiency.
Double glazing windows and doors can increase the value of your property, as well as saving you money on your heating bills. Take a look at some of the Energy Efficiency-certified windows and doors on the Safestyle website.
