Installing replacement windows and building a conservatory are two of the best ways of adding value and aesthetic appeal to your home, experts say.

Quality double glazing requires an initial investment, but will rapidly pay for itself by cutting homeowner's heating bills and increasing the marketability of your dwelling.

The Energy Saving Trust - a non-profit organisation set up by the government - estimates that homes with double glazing can cut heat loss by half.

That translates into an average annual saving of £80 - £100, whilst also reducing the homeowner's carbon emissions by approximately three quarters of a tonne each year.

Double glazing will also cut out noise from neighbours and traffic, as well as increasing security in dwellings by making it harder for intruders to break into your property.

Aesthetically, replacement windows and conservatories will brighten up properties, increasing their appeal to potential buyers and so driving up the value of a home.

The extra light will also afford homeowners the opportunity to develop the style and appearance of their home, making for a more comfortable home environment.
