Safestyle donation to Bradford Cat Watch Rescue

Throughout the year Safestyle Giving has contributed to a wide range of charitable causes as part of our ongoing commitment to giving back. We decided to look at helping local animal rescue shelters and launched a social media giveaway to encourage support from our customers, employees and followers.

In October we launched a competition on the Safestyle Facebook and Twitter pages to raise awareness and money for two animal rescues local to our head office. We asked users to vote if they are a cat person or a dog person in order to answer the great debate as to whether we are a nation of cat lovers or dog lovers. Depending on which pet received the most votes we promised to make a £1,000 donation and a £500 donation to the runner up. Four entrants were also selected at random to receive a luxury pet hamper filled with treats and toys for their own cat or dog.

Bradford Cat Watch Rescue was chosen as the company's nominated cat rescue due to the amazing work they do in the local community. They are Bradford's only cat rescue offering information and support as well as rehoming over 500 cats and kittens every year. They take in all cats including those with complex disabilities that other shelters may put down due to the level of care they need. They help to rescue cats and kittens that have been abused, abandoned and neglected all over the West Yorkshire region.

The competition proved to be hugely successful with over 1,500 people getting involved and sharing pictures of their own pets. The votes showed that more people saw themselves as a cat person with over 100 comments more than dogs . As a result Safestyle has made a £1000 donation to Bradford Cat Watch Rescue and an additional £500 donation to West Yorkshire Dog Rescue as the runner up.

Bradford Cat Watch Rescue is run entirely by volunteers who work tirelessly to help save the lives of the hundreds of cats they rescue and rehome. They have a motto to never turn a cat away and help helped rehome hundreds of cats who would have otherwise had nowhere to go. Please visit their website https://www.bcwr-kittens.co.uk/ to find out more about the great work they do and make a donation.
