Employees at our head office have voted for IDAS, Independent domestic abuse service, to be one of Safestyle's nominated charities for 2018.
Each year we select two organisations to be named as our 'charity of the year' who each receive a £5000 donation and regular support. The chosen charities are voted for by employees of our head office and manufacturing facility, with a strong focus being placed on helping local organisations in the Yorkshire region.
We're delighted that staff at our head office in Bradford decided to vote for IDAS who support people experiencing or who have been affected by domestic abuse or sexual violence. IDAS is the largest specialist charity supporting both women and men in the Yorkshire region. They offer a wide range of services including refuge, accommodation, community-based support, peer mentoring, group work and access to a free, confidential out of hours' helpline.
IDAS invited members of our team to visit their offices for the day to find out more about their organisation and the people they support. Considering 1 in 4 women will be affected by domestic abuse at some point in their life, the work that IDAS does in raising awareness and supporting victims is extremely important and necessary. They also have teams of accredited specialist workers who support both perpetrators and victims through the criminal justice system in addition to providing emotional support and safety planning advice.
