Matched giving for the Alzheimer's society
At Safestyle we love when our employees are passionate about great causes and want to support and help charities that they really care about. We aim to make sure that employees' fundraising efforts are rewarded with our matched giving policy. The company will match the amount that any employee has fundraised for a registered charity or organisation up to the value of £250.
A huge well done to Sarah Roberts who is part of Safestyle's new business registration team at our head office. Sarah completed the memory walk 2017 to raise money for the Alzheimer's society. The memory walks take place all over the country and are a great chance for people to get together and march for such a fantastic cause.
It's estimated that around 225,000 people develop dementia every year which is the equivalent to one person every three minutes. The Alzheimer's society works to support people who have been affected by dementia. Dementia is caused when the brain is damaged by diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease or a series of strokes and it is estimated that there are currently around 850,000 suffering in the UK. It mainly affects people over the age of 65 (one in 14 people in this age group have dementia) but it can also affect younger people too.
The Alzheimer's Society help those affected by dementia in various ways, they are the only UK charity that invests in research into dementia care, cause, cure and prevention. They fund cutting edge research that intends to find a cure for dementia and ease the symptoms of those suffering.
By completing the memory walk Sarah has managed to raise an amazing £476 which will go directly to the Alzheimer's Society. As part of our employee matched giving policy Safestyle have also made a donation to her fundraising.
