At Safestyle we love when our employees are passionate about great causes and want to support and help charities that they really care about. The company will match the amount that any employee has fundraised for a registered charity or organisation up to the value of £250.
Stephen Pickles and Ashley Bowdenn from our Swindon branch decided to do a sponsored skydive to raise money for Wallace & Gromit's Grand appeal at Bristol Children's Hospital. Stephen has a personal connection to the hospital and the amazing work they do as they have been a great help to his nephew who has visited on several occasions due to severe allergies. The Grand Appeal supports sick children and their families in Bristol Children's Hospital, they supply life-saving equipment and medical facilities as well as providing accommodation for families and patients. The Hospital covers the largest geographical area of any children’s hospital in England, and serves the whole area with the only dedicated Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and Major Trauma Unit.
The Grand Appeal continually invest in all wards and departments in Bristol Children's Hospital so that children benefit from the highest standard of care. They fund a Cots for Tots programme that cares for babies born as early as 23 weeks that may require life-saving surgery. As well as funding and operating Cots for Tots House, a dedicated 12 bedroom house providing free accommodation for families of sick and premature babies cared for on the Special Care Baby Unit. Cots for Tots is the largest charity contributor to the Special Care Baby Unit and the only dedicated charity supporting the Unit. The work they do is vital to supporting patients and their families through such a difficult and distressing time.
Ashley and Stephen asked their friends, family, and co workers to sponsor their skydive with all proceeds going to such a deserving cause. Together they managed to raise an amazing £640 for the hospital, Safestyle has also matched their fundraising and given a £500 donation bringing the total amount to £1140. Bristol children's hospice are extremely grateful for the donation which will go towards helping them care for more critically ill children. A spokesperson for the charity said "How wonderful that your colleagues in Swindon are supporting The Grand Appeal and Bristol Children’s Hospital. How brave to do a skydive! What an amazing amount of money they have raised as well and a massive thank you to Safestyle for match funding £500, this is extremely generous." Well done to Stephen and Ashley!
